The article also points out some key details as to where this fits in specifically to the current (Disney approved) Star Wars canon, stating this final season will take viewers right up to where Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, began.
The release of this final season to the critically acclaimed comes as a perfect time as Disney takes a break between the release of their unnamed new Star Wars saga, and the mysterious Project Luminous which is claimed to be the massive multimedia initiative which will prepare the next decade’s worth of Star Wars canon by creating several new comic books, novels, video games, and potentially a brand new animated series as well.
As previously reported here, “According to Lucasfilm creative director Michael Siglain in regards to the team behind this new brand initiative, ‘The team will also work alongside the Lucasfilm story group to craft the world in accordance with the current Star Wars canon. Project Luminous will be used to set up the future of Star Wars on-screen.’”
